Door Gift Ideas for Corporate Events: 70+ Gifts With Malaysian Prices

More than 70 door gift ideas for corporate events in Malaysia with RM prices from official stores, plus budgets per guest, logo suppliers, etiquette and tax.

By Jeffery Johnson•

Most door gifts end up in a drawer. A few get used every day for years, and every time someone drinks from that flask or charges their phone with that cable, they remember the event. The difference is rarely the budget. It's whether the gift is useful, suits the crowd and arrives in one piece.

This guide lists more than 70 door gift ideas for corporate events in Malaysia, from RM3 cookie boxes to Royal Selangor pewter, plus eight suppliers who will print your logo. Each shows the price on the brand's official Malaysian website or official store, with a link so you can check it. It also covers how much to spend per guest, how many to order, where to get logo printing, what to avoid for a mixed Malaysian crowd, and how the tax works.

The short answer. For most corporate events in Malaysia, plan RM10 to RM30 per guest: a steel bottle or tumbler, a cable kit or wireless charger, or a box of local tea, coffee or cookies. Seminars and events with 300 or more guests usually spend RM5 to RM15, and VIP tables RM50 and up, with pewter, batik or a premium flask. Order your confirmed headcount plus 10%, put your logo on it, and allow two to four weeks for printing, longer in November and December.

How much to spend per guest

Start with the event, not the catalogue. These are the ranges Malaysian door gift suppliers quote, which line up with what most companies spend:

Event

Per guest

Typical gift

Wedding (for comparison)

Under RM5

Cookies, candy boxes, seed-paper cards

Seminar, workshop or 300+ guests

RM5 to RM15

Tote bag, notebook and pen, coffee or cookie box

Annual dinner or conference

RM10 to RM30

Steel bottle or tumbler, cable kit, local snack box

Premium dinner or client event

RM30 to RM80

Branded flask, tea gift box, power bank

VIP table or speakers

RM50 to RM300+

Pewter, batik, premium flask or tumbler

How many to order. Your confirmed guest count plus about 10%, to cover walk-ins, plus-ones and the crew. If you're tracking RSVPs, use the confirmed number, not the invite list. For a 300-guest dinner where 280 have confirmed, order around 310.

One gift or two tiers. Many companies give everyone the same gift and add a second, better one for the VIP tables and speakers. Wrap them differently so the door team can't mix them up.

Prices below were checked on each brand's official Malaysian website or official store on 15 October 2026. Where a brand doesn't sell on its own site, the link goes to its official store on Lazada, and the price is that store's price on the day. Lazada prices move almost daily and drop around 11.11 and 12.12, so click through before you buy, and ask the brand or store for a quote if you need 100 or more.

Door gifts with your logo

Retail brands rarely print logos for you. Thermos Malaysia does (minimum 100 pieces, screen print, UV or laser engraving), Corkcicle does from 48 pieces, Royal Selangor offers engraving, logo printing and custom packaging through its corporate gifts team, and Batik Boutique can work your logo into the batik itself. For everything else, Malaysian door gift suppliers print or engrave your logo on stock items, usually for less per piece:

Before you approve a print run, get a digital mock-up and, for orders over a few hundred pieces, a physical sample. Keep the logo small and tasteful: a flask with a discreet engraved logo gets carried to the office, and one covered in a giant logo stays at home.

Door gifts by event

  • Annual dinner. Something people take home and use: a steel bottle, tumbler or a local tea or coffee gift box. Add a second, better gift for the VIP tables. If you're still planning the night, see our annual dinner theme ideas and lucky draw prize ideas: door gifts and lucky draw prizes should feel different, so a gift everyone gets shouldn't also be a prize.

  • Seminar, conference or training. Light, flat and useful at the event itself: a notebook and pen, a cable organiser, a tote bag that carries the handouts. People take public transport home, so skip anything heavy or fragile.

  • Family day. It's outdoors and hot. Drinkware, foldable bags and umbrellas work. Chocolate melts, and Beryl's itself recommends storing its chocolate at 18°C to 23°C.

  • Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas. Festive food is expected: kuih bangkit, butter cookies, love letters, dates for Ramadan. Check the halal certification on every item for a mixed crowd.

  • Client appreciation or a VIP dinner. Fewer, better gifts with a local story: Royal Selangor pewter, Batik Boutique, Karyaneka songket, or kelulut honey.

  • Product launch or roadshow. Something that carries the product's message, often a tote or bottle in the brand's colours, handed out at the exit with the brochure inside.

  • Foreign guests. Gifts that say Malaysia and travel well: Beryl's landmark chocolate tins, BOH tea, a Royal Selangor Twin Towers keychain, batik.

Door gifts that backfire

  • Non-halal food or anything with alcohol. Check the halal logo on every food item, not just the brand. Some popular brands don't state halal certification online, so verify each product on JAKIM's halal portal before ordering.

  • Chocolate at an outdoor or summer event. It arrives as a puddle.

  • Clocks, knives and sets of four for Chinese guests. A clock sounds like attending a funeral in Chinese, sharp objects suggest cutting ties, and four sounds like "death". Most guests won't mind, but some older guests will. Umbrellas carry a milder version of the same superstition, yet they remain a common Malaysian door gift.

  • Leather for Hindu guests. Cow leather is best avoided.

  • Power banks for guests flying home. Every power bank in this list is allowed in cabin baggage only, and some airlines now ban using them on board. Fine for a local dinner, awkward for a regional conference.

  • Gadgets tied to one phone brand. A Samsung tracker only works with Galaxy phones, and some magnetic chargers suit iPhones best. For a mixed crowd, choose USB-C cables, chargers or speakers.

  • Earbuds and personal-care items in random sizes and scents. They can't be swapped once opened. Unscented lip balm is the safe choice.

  • A bag of plastic with a logo on it. Lanyards, keychains and plastic fans with your logo are the gifts guests leave behind at the venue. With Malaysia aiming for zero single-use plastics by 2030, a cloth bag or a steel bottle sends a better message.

  • Anything too grand. A gift that's far more expensive than the occasion can embarrass guests who feel they should reciprocate.

Are door gifts tax deductible in Malaysia?

LHDN treats gifts and giveaways as entertainment expenses under Public Ruling 4/2015, which normally allows only 50% as a deduction. Three exceptions matter for door gifts:

  • Gifts to employees: 100%. Entertainment provided to your own staff, such as annual dinners and family days, is fully deductible.

  • Gifts with your company logo: 100%. Promotional gifts that carry a conspicuous logo of your business are fully deductible, as long as they're given to everyone, not expensive gifts for a selected few. LHDN's own examples include logo umbrellas for customers.

  • Gifts without a logo to clients or suppliers: 50%. The ruling's example is electrical goods without a logo given to suppliers at a company annual dinner.

Two cases get no deduction: entertaining staff of related companies, and AGMs. And for employees, LHDN's perquisites ruling (PR 5/2019) has no small-gift exemption, so a very expensive gift given to staff could count as a taxable perquisite. An ordinary door gift is unlikely to raise the question, but check with your tax adviser for anything high-value.

When to order

  • Ready stock with your logo printed: one to three weeks after you approve the mock-up.

  • Custom-made items: two to eight weeks, and up to two months if the supplier orders from a factory.

  • November and December: suppliers add three to five working days in the year-end rush, and some advise six to eight weeks for festive orders.

For an annual dinner in December or January, order by early November. Leave a week between delivery and the event so you can count, check and pack them.

How to hand them out

  • At arrival or at the end? Hand them out at the end if the gift is bulky or if you want people to stay until the lucky draw. Hand them out at registration if the gift is useful during the event, such as a notebook, tote or lanyard.

  • One per guest. Tie the gift to check-in: each guest scanned in gets one. It stops double-dipping and tells you exactly how many went out.

  • VIP gifts to the right people. Put the VIP gifts behind the desk, not on the table, and give the door team a way to know who's VIP when they arrive.

  • Leftovers. Count them. The difference between gifts ordered and gifts handed out is your no-show rate, and next year's order quantity.

Where SOURems fits

SOURems is an event management platform used for registration, check-in, seating and the lucky draw at Malaysian corporate events. For door gifts, it helps in three places:

  • Ordering the right number. RSVPs by email and WhatsApp are tracked per guest, so you order for the people who confirmed, not the invite list.

  • At the door. Guests are scanned in with a QR code, and notes such as VIP, speaker or dietary needs show the moment they're scanned, so the right gift goes to the right person. Group bookings check in guest by guest, so everyone gets their own gift.

  • Afterwards. The check-in record tells you exactly how many guests came, which is how many gifts you really needed. And if you want to know what people would like next year, send a short feedback form by email or WhatsApp.

See how SOURems handles registration and check-in, how to plan your annual dinner seating, or how to choose an event management company in Malaysia if you'd rather hand the whole event to an agency.

FAQ

What is a good door gift for a corporate event?

Something useful that people will keep using: a steel water bottle or tumbler, a USB-C cable or charger, a tote bag, or a local tea, coffee or cookie gift box. Add your logo discreetly, check it suits a mixed crowd, and make sure it survives the trip home.

How much should a door gift cost in Malaysia?

Most corporate door gifts in Malaysia cost RM10 to RM30 per guest. Seminars and large events of 300 or more guests often spend RM5 to RM15, and VIP or client gifts RM50 and up. Wedding door gifts are usually under RM5.

What door gift should I give at an annual dinner?

A practical gift everyone can use, such as a steel bottle, tumbler, wireless charger or a local food gift box, with a better gift for VIP tables and speakers. Keep it different from the lucky draw prizes.

Should door gifts be given at arrival or at the end of the event?

At the end if the gift is bulky or you want guests to stay for the lucky draw, at arrival if it's useful during the event, such as a notebook or tote bag. Either way, give one per checked-in guest.

How many door gifts should I order?

Your confirmed guest count plus about 10% for walk-ins, plus-ones and the crew. Use confirmed RSVPs, not the number of invitations sent.

Are door gifts tax deductible in Malaysia?

Usually yes. Under LHDN's Public Ruling 4/2015, gifts to your own employees and promotional gifts with your company logo given to everyone are 100% deductible. Gifts without a logo to clients or suppliers are 50% deductible. Check high-value staff gifts with your tax adviser.

What door gifts should I avoid for a mixed Malaysian crowd?

Non-halal or uncertified food, anything containing alcohol, leather for Hindu guests, and, for some Chinese guests, clocks, knives or sets of four. Also avoid chocolate at outdoor events and gadgets that only work with one phone brand.
